The Hill People Gear Kit Bag is designed to solve a common problem. How do you discretely and conveniently carry a sidearm and a belted pack at the same time without having your sidearm attached to the pack? At least that's where it started. As it evolved, it became not just that but a way to carry a few trail essentials close at hand as well. Navigation gear, fire starters, fixed blade knife, emergency water bladder -- your Kit in other words. It's gotten to the point that we carry ours whether or not we need to put a pistol in.

The Kit Bag is sized to carry your pistol plus a reasonable amount of kit and no more. The size is deliberately trim and the weight light so as not to interfere with whatever activity you're engaged in. You can see your feet, shoot a bow, wear it over a life vest, and wear it on a motorcycle. With seven pounds of kit, you'll know it's there, but it's not uncomfortable.

It will also dock onto whatever pack you're carrying so the weight is taken off of your shoulders and borne by the pack. This makes it disappear on even beltless packs. This feature isn't necessary, but it's nice.

The serape is a very functional design, long used by Hill People the world over. We've added a hood, drawcord, and unique zipper arrangement that turns it into a greatcoat or a half zip sleeping bag. This is a great layer for throwing on during rest breaks or when taking a stand during hunting. It can also be used instead of a sleeping bag in warm weather, or as a sleeping bag supplement in colder weather.

This is probably the perfect day pack emergency layer since it can be worn as an insulation layer that goes down to the knees, as a blanket for an individual, or as a wrap for two or three people trying to conserve warmth.

We've been kicking around this idea since we introduced the original Kit Bag. The problem with adding PALS to a regular KB is that you don't want any more hanging off of the front of it. The Runner's Kit Bag was first conceived as something to put PALS on the front of, but we felt the urban runner's need was more pressing so we went slick with that offering. We've also been reluctant to make something "tactical" like this. Well, we've had so many requests for something like this we finally decided to put it out there.

This solves the needs of the SAR folks who want a dedicated radio or GPS pouch, and also works well for those wanting a spare rifle magazine readily accessible. Using PALS was a no-brainer because of the hundreds of accessories available for that platform. Despite our misgivings about tactical, we're quickly warming up to the idea of this kind of modularity.
